More Swiss Stuff - Some Tool Holders
Again Boeni. A fellow in Rotterdam had seen a photo of my lathe and recognised the toolpost. He sent me an email saying he had some tool holders that would fit mine and was I interested in buying them. He uses a Tripan tool post, another Swiss delicacy and these holders were of no use to him. He had tried to unload them in Holland but had no takers. I have seen two Type 80 tool posts on Ebay during the past six years and both of them are in my shed.
Anyway we settled on 100 Euros shipped and they rolled up the other day. Two are W20 collet holders. I do not have an abundance of W20s but I do have a set of P20 collets that came with my mill. They are internally threaded M12. Same external dimensions as a W20. I will make up a draw bar to suit the short holder. Could prove handy for holding small and not so small round boring bars. The other rounded off holder is for 3 Morse tooling. And then there is an extra long tool holder. Might prove useful.
My total of 12 holders is a long way from Dave J's collection of 40ish holders but I'm working on it.

Nice one Bob.
One of the things I like about my Aloris QCTP is that the holders can be replicated comparatively easily. I considered the Multifix type and the Dickson type but thought that the profile would very fiddly to copy. Those look like they are hardened and ground? Additionally with the twin V's the machined tolerances would probably be more demanding too. Are they worth trying to copy, or is it one of those things that is best left to Dave?

No contest!
Dave's the resident tool holder champion. I'm not going up against him.
