I would hook up some outside flood lites to your shed security system. Many would themselves, especially if your remaining dog was relocated closer to the shed.Lets face it Bull Mastifs make plenty of people #### themselves by their presense alone, not to mention their bark. Good luck with it. Maybe some electrified barb wire to boot. Great stuff to run into at nite and it aint illegal.

That's too bad Dave. In an ideal world, those kids would have respect for you and your property and/or the police would do their work.

It's not right that you and your family should suffer the worry of further potential invasions. I would be inclined to carry out a pre-emptive strike on those kids. Teach them a lesson they won't forget and tell them if anything happens to you, your family, or your property that they'll earn a more severe lesson. They will then become your best security monitors, keeping an eye out for any trouble that could lead to them copping a second lesson. Fear is an excellent substitute for respect and one I know from first hand experience works well.

Many thanks for the replies guys.

I ended up buying this one below as I need it quick as this dog watch shift is killing me. I would have liked to look around, study up like Jack is doing and I usually do when buying things I don't know about, but I have limited time to do this.

The seller was helpful and added 2 x 50mtr cables and another 12v 5amp transformer for an all up price of $830 Aus.
That includes 16 channel DVD RW, 1000GB hard drive with 12 cameras and if I want another 4 audio ones it is another $200 with 20mtr leads, but I will see how we go with this lot and it keeps it under the customs $1000 limit for import duties. I also ordered a roll of 100 stickers at $28 it was cheaper to buy them that way. I will put some around the place and have replacements when they fade.
I don't know much about them and read what I could, but we do have a budget to stick to and I think throwing $800 odd dollars on these scum is about the limit. If I catch them, I will make sure they pay for it one way or another
We have twin 150w sensor lights at the front of the house and in front of the shed, but they didn't come up that far to get the dogs.

With the dogs I can't work it out, these kids would do something and run, but this is up to another level cutting the fence and coming in the yard, which has got us worried and confused. At least with the cameras up we can see what is and went on.

That siren sounds good, I will let you know in the next week if I can use it here, much appreciated.

Bloody germs. At the end of the day the cops dont book them because they are let down by the courts. Coppers have to put in a lot of effort to make a charge and when some halfwit magistrate lets the offender off with less than a slap on the wrist over and over again the cops lose interest. Half the time they cant make charges stick either due to rubbish like you posted re the employers letter.

The sad thing is, as soon as you catch them and then take them out the back for a good old fashioned flogging you can bet your bottom dollar the cops will suddenly be interested in you.

I still wouldnt be at all surprised if these clowns are the ones behind it. I wouldnt put the stickers up if i were you...if you catch them on film the cops wont have much choice but to press charges.

Where abouts are you dave? I got the impression from some of your posts that your in a rural/semi rural location....or have I got that wrong and your just in the burbs with a big block of land.

Thats what has stopped me giving the kids a good slap up the head.
Thinking about it, you are probably right about the stickers, so I will hold off putting them up.

The trick is to take yourself and the wife down to the pub for dinner and give your best mates ski masks and a couple of slabs (or return a favour for them some day) and your mates then give the kids a general "good behaviour... or else" hiding. Isn't that the way it's always been done... or have I still not grasped Australia?

Ha ha ha. Gold. Make sure its a pub with cameras so there can be no doubt that you werent around when the unfortunate incident took place. Might be prudent to withdraw some cash from the ATM and keep the receipt too.

Geez you guys are in the know, LOL
If I walked into the pub I probably wouldn't know anyone. Like I said earlier I keep to myself (in the shed) and all my mates are as old as me or older. Also my mates wouldn't do that sort of thing as they wouldn't want the trouble themselves.
Don't worry I have thought of who I can hire, but it will only come back around to bite me.

    Hi WW,

I wish... here is what happened to our local pests, they gave them a new house!

Kevin Scott skips court | Herald Sun

That same family, has been in the news the last week or so, one son is up on murder charge, (he ran over an ex-girlfriend? in his car) another woman (same family again) was shot by police a few days ago while trying to stop a bus with a kitchen knife.

These noxious pests would have been best dealt with using WW's "more direct methods" years ago..

That's terrible! It's a shame, as a community, we have let matters slip into such disorder.

    Hi,
I am more concerned about the innocent victims, the dogs, you don't know what scum like that could do to them and think it was funny, just to upset the owners. I was hoping the dogs had taken the opportunity to go for a wonder when the fence was cut but I think they would have wondered home for the next meal by now if that was the case.
    Regards
    Hugh

Thats what is worrying us about the dogs not turning up at the pound or the vets, I thought they would have let them out to get caught by the ranger. I just hope they are getting looked after and not laying dead somewhere. The dogs have done nothing at all to deserve this and I think it is low act to do this just to just to upset us more.

As for how they got out, I have double questioned myself over and over, but I always lock the gate and make sure the door is closed.
The door on the enclosure is self closing and I also found the horse gate unlocked which is a spring clip on a chain, I am the only one that usually goes down their (and was that day) so someone had been definitely up in the yard to get them. Also the wire was still shiny where it had been cut and it was raining for days, by the day after I checked and there was rust spots on some of the ends.(my bit of detective work)

The little jack russell would run strait to the back door every time anyone got her out or inside if the door was open, and the labrador was to big to fit to get down the paddock without someone opening the gate but would run up with the jack russel as they where good mates. They would have had to put a lead on the jack russell or pick her up or she just would have taken off up to the house as she loves the daughter.
Neither of them where ones to wonder out of the yard, but we have had a few fines for the mastiff as the little bugger takes off if he can.

They wouldn't have been hungry that night as I had fed them earlier, then I took them some scraps down around 11.30 that night just before I locked up the shed, so I know they where their then.
Thinking back these ar**holes where probably watching me, then waiting for me to go inside. Every night I lock the shed up around the same time 11.30 - 12.30 so I would have been an easy target as far as time goes.

I don't know how many times I have automatically gone to the enclosure at feed time since they have been gone, then remember they are not their. It's not a good feeling as they both had their own personalities and we miss them heaps.

Setup a couple of shot shell trip wires around the fence. They go BOOM, scares the crap out of whoever sets them off, alerts you to their location. You get a quicker bead on them then.

    Sounds good
I have been thinking of using some mig wire for trip wires just today to help out until the cameras get here. What are these shot shells? and where do I buy them?
