    Default Wrong clamp kit?

    Hey guys,
I bought a new clamp kit for my milling machine. The ebay seller said it was for a 16mm table slot and that its M12...I got the box today in the mail and it says M16 on it...I'm sure this is wrong.

    I have a 16mm table slot

    This was the ebay ad

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281288637...84.m1439.l2649

Am I going nuts, or is the M16 kit the right kit?

When you took one out of the box did it fit?

If it did its right if not then wrong.

Yes, thats what I think too, but I have the M16 bolts..

Don't think they will be ok.

I'll check it when I get home, but I dont want to unpack it if its wrong.

Anyone here used M16 bolts on a 16mm table.

    Cheers

    Hi there,

I found this confusing too. There are two dimensions at play here, the bolt or stud thread size and the table T slot size. If you choose the correct T slot size for your mill then the thread on the stud just looks after itself, if you know what I mean… T slot size is the critical dimension.

Example, my mill has a T slot size of 16mm, so I have an M14 stud clamping kit with 16mm T nuts. Naturally the thread on the studs needs to be smaller than the T nuts. When I imported my mill I had no idea what size it needed since it quoted "clamping kit size 16mm" So I took a punt and ordered a 16mm T nut set (M14) and an 14mm (M12) kit. Turns out the smaller one fits as well but it's loose and I don't like to use it since it clamps on a reduced area under the mill, risking tear out if done up too tight. Good news is that it'd perfect for my rotary table and angle plate!

Edit: If they are truly 16mm T nuts and they don't fit, then the people who sold you the mill got their dimensions wrong. If the thread on the studs are M16 then the T nuts must be bigger than 16mm (most likely 18mm) then the seller has sold you the wrong item.

Girl, I don't wanna know about your mild-mannered alter ego or anything like that." I mean, you tell me you're, uh, super-mega-ultra-lightning babe? That's all right with me. I'm good. I'm good.

This is what I was after.
I measured the top part of the Tnut, ideally that would need to be under 16mm, and it is 17mm. So I dont think it would fit.
The diamater of a M16 Bolt is 15.97mm, which would be enough clearance to go through the 16mm Slot, but the Tnut will most likely not fit into the slots.
I'll double check this in real life when I get home, but I'm almost certain I have the wrong kit.

My mill, which is the same as yours, uses the same set that you linked to (http://www.paramountbrowns.com.au/ha...ovetail-shaft/) except that I got the imperial set. 1/2 inch UNC. The set sent to you is wrong. The linked set is the right one. 12mm thread.
