WTB: shaper in any condition
I'm hooked!
After spending a day with Ray watching and admiring and getting mesmerised by the Vernamo shaper, I want one!
So what I'm asking is: please everyone keep their eyes open at clearing sales, neighbourhood engineering shops closing and ads in papers and on the net. Obviously I will do the same.
If anyone finds one, please let me know about it
Cheers,
Joe

Hi Joe,
If I find one with a vise, you can have the shaper, I'll keep the vise...
There is this one in Kyabram, that I looked at a while ago...
The guy said it had been restored by one of the apprentices, and it's just sat gathering rust and cobwebs since. Might be worth making an offer?
Regards
Ray

Oi,
STOP poaching. I thought I had the only one in the area. This one must have been kept very quiet.

There is a big smiths and something or other at newmac machinery in Melbourne....Greg and I had a look at it when I was in Melbourne last year...

Ken, do you know about the one Ray showed?
Ray, do you know any contact details?
OK, I'm happy to make do without a "real" or original vice - I'm not (yet) that sort of purist.
No bigger than Ray's - the two that were in the factory in Bendigo were WAY too big for my shed. Ray's 18" Vernamø is about as big as I (may be able to) fit in... a Douglas size is probably closer to the limit....
So anyone buys one for the vice - give me a hoi.

Clear some of the infill out of the way Joe and aim for something bigger than a Douglas.

Joe,
I didn't know this machine existed until this thread. It would be nice to know where it is hiding. I am guessing that it is about 15'-18".

Got the message thanks Ray.
If anybody is interested in this machine I don't mind having a look at it and find out a price from the owner. Could save a trip; or mean that you bring the readies and trailer on the trip.

lamestllama: thank you for bringing that to my attention!
However, getting it from QLD to Central VIc will triple the cost. Might be a bit too far to ship a large one.
I would go for a drive to Southern Queenslandd with a 6x4 trailer for one under -say - 500kg at the right price, mind you. If it needs a hired truck etc, it rapidly becomes unaffordable for me....
