All these pics of organized sheds (sheds shouldn't have to be clean or tidy, just organized) have guilted me into trying to sort mine out a bit.
I've already spent a few hours finding homes for everything, and have removed a trailer load of rubbish so far - including a dead snake I found curled up in a corner

3 easy questions for us all to answer to get the reply juices and thoughts going.

    1. How long have you been in the shed
    2. Whats your favorite tool
    3. Best thing you have built in your shed

    Ill kick it off...

1.Bought a new house six months ago now and shed came with it
    2. My 250amp 240v welder
    3. My shevling unit so far

and remember to bang up at least a photo of each!!!! less typing than which is a bonus...
oh i am so stupid. i do not know how to follow ur steps.
could you pls tell me how?
    tks in advance.

    Hi Stuart,

Maybe we could have an "adult rated" R18+ section for shed pictures, that are "not fit for public exhibition"

The most interesting sheds are sometimes the ones where you can't see the floor...

That's the back corner of mine. Baby air compressor, the 120 cfm Hydrovane compressor, sand blasting rigs, wood heater, Lister FR2 antique marine diesel engine, assorted other stuff awaiting final disposition. Another room has 2 more Lister marine diesels, 2 Yanmars and a horizontal Chinese diesel with marine g/box. Better to have too many engines than too few....

Probably going to extend my shed another 4.2m to the north one of these days for light duty stuff, that's why I put a door in that wall. Some of the H6 treated posts are in, the rest will happen when I'm sick of doing other stuff.

Some machinery. The Emco lathe is actually at my house in Sydney so I have something to play with when I'm up there. Occasionally it's useful for repairing stuff on the family property but that's purely accidental to its intended purpose. It's about the only single phase machine I own other than a POS Chinese drill press. Fortunately I have a real drill as well.

For all you guys with shed envy, look at the age of the people with big sheds. My current setup is my 3rd one and I learnt from the first 2 some of the things to do & not to do. Then I made some compromises anyway. For example the woodwork stuff should be elsewhere and the machine tools definitely should be in an enclosed space away from grinding residue - I've lost count of the number of grinding discs I've gone through on that boat. I've got drop cloths on all the machine tools that matter and wipe them down before & after use, but it's still bad practice.

I'm going to build another shed for getting into metal casting and stuff. Got plenty of room, just lack time, money & sufficient incentive ATM.

Hi John. Well it's a great first and last machine. Did you buy it second hand. It was the second type of machine I used. 7 months on the nuttle. Ww2 vintage..and then a year or so on the victors. I remember after this working in different maintenance depots and all ways heading for the more high end machines. After a few goes seemed all ways to drift back to the victor as my first choice. Any way have fun

Nice man cave and i love that second story storage you have got i bet that would be very handy. Nice looking lathe you got there, is it a Workman?
That bench of yours looks great, looks like it came from the shop

Im with you, sheds should be tidy to your liking even if its messy but it should just be organized or at least you know where everything is.
what are the odds of finding a dead snake haha.

    Hi Cooper,

Yes the mezz comes in handy although I keep forgetting to make a fold down ladder for easy access.

Yes the lathe is a workman. How did you know that? It used to be cream/white but I gave it a new paint job after some of the paint came off when I stripped down the headstock, replaced all the bearings and repainted it inside with POR15...

Yep, love my shed but it is a work in progress. Needs some more cladding, shelving and general wear and tear to make it look more purposeful and "lived in"

    Cheers

The name of the lathe is just faint.
What did you use to get rid of the paint? paint stripper?
Well you did a good paint job because i thought that is what it looks like stock.
You should put ply wood around the inside of the shed so then you can have some more shelving and can hang tools and it wont be as hot and you can have some more protection.

Arbogas are nice drills. That one is the smallest of the radial arm units. It's old and very well used yet still has no problems pushing a 32mm drill bit through 40mm thick bar. 3 different power feed rates and settable feed trips. I'm sure it can do a lot bigger than 32mm but that's the biggest bit I currently own.

As for the shed, I designed it myself for myself. One of the reasons for the skillions was they provided a walkway for putting up the main roof and I got good lighting from the laserlight cladding. It gets a bit hot on the boat deck/mezzanine level in summer so I might replace some of the laserlight with opening windows and insulate the roof.

I built the entire thing by myself with the exception of having some of my friends put up the central area roof trusses - took us less than 3 hours to do. Ideally it would be 4m longer but ideally all sheds would be at least 4m longer. I'd like more 'dirty work' space under a roof but no walls so the wind can blow crap away. Plans are in train.....

Aaron, It was purchased second hand, I've had it for almost 5 months now and still learning. One thing is for sure is the rigidity of thing, it's a bloody solid unit.
