Show us ya metal working sheds and tools W/Pics!!!
Hey guys,
Im injoying my time here so far and all of the members are very helpfull to all the newbies metal heads and me.Since ive been here i have noticed those termite loving fools on the other side of this forum have a shed thread but we dont seem too. so without delay im sure we all can get one cranking..
3 easy questions for us all to answer to get the reply juices and thoughts going.
1. How long have you been in the shed
2. Whats your favorite tool
3. Best thing you have built in your shed
Ill kick it off...
1.Bought a new house six months ago now and shed came with it
2. My 250amp 240v welder
3. My shevling unit so far
and remember to bang up at least a photo of each!!!! less typing than which is a bonus...

OK, I'll go next.
1) I've had a shed for at least 40 years, the current one for 30 years.
2) The favourite tools are my welders (MIG, Arc and O/A) and my lathe
3) The best thing I've built would be my Superkart, after 15 years of racing commercial chassis I welded up my own chassis in collaboration with a local kart dealer at the end of 2010. So far I've managed to place 2nd in the Australian Nationals at Phillip Island in a field of 42 drivers and to win the South Australian championship. At the Phillip Island meeting a 13 year old driver in another chassis I welded up broke the lap record by 2 seconds.
These karts are capable of speeds over 160 kph, no seat-belts, no roll cages and an inch off the ground - great fun and a way of keeping fit and alert trying to keep ahead of the 20 year olds.
We now have orders for 7 of the chassis so I'm going to be busy over the Christmas break!!!

Hi all,
I never tire of looking at other peoples sheds! Good work on the Go Kart too! I am currently building some long overdue cabinets, cupboards and drawers in my shed. It's a mess at the moment but I will send some pics in the next few days.
My shed is about 3 years old. It's a Stratco 7.5M x 9M that I built myself. Nearly killed me but I'm very happy with the result. I doubt if I paid someone to build it that they would have taken as much care as I did. It's more level and square than our house.
My favorite tools are:
(1) 12x36 lathe
(2) My soon to arrive 45 size milling machine
(3) My Triton work centre that I have just re-kindled a love affair with whilst making these cabinets. I have the extension sliding table and when you consider the cost, they are capable of some really good work - as long as they are set up properly at the start.
(4) My Goodwell arc welder
(5) All my other power tools that just sit there patiently waiting to be used and they never get jealous when I pick up another tool or bring home a new tool.....

Hi Gavin, very neat setup, and congratulations on the success of the kart chassis
Hi Matthew, good layout, well organized, I can see a few clever ideas in there that I'd like to pinch,
Now I'll have to clean up, to make mine look like it's organized before I take a picture..
Regards
Ray
PS.. 355Tonner, You've struck it lucky with that workshop, good lighting plus a window, and a bit of insulation, makes all the difference.

Best I can do whilst at work....
Artists impression of my milling machine when it arrives in the docks at Melbourne. Imagine it with coolant system, power X feed, work light and it's spot on! YAY!
