making new zincalume look like old gal
I want to make a bit of new shed roofing blend in sympathetically with some older weathered gal roof.
The Zincalume is dead bright and sticks out like a sore thumb.
Is there any way that I can "kill" the shininess without ruining the anticorosion properties?

You could try an Etch or Vinegar.

There may be compatibility issues!
You may not be aware, but if the zincalume and galvanised sheets are in contact with each other, or even if water runs from zincalume onto galv sheeting, corrosion will start and the galv will be dissolved and the underlying iron will rust long before its time. No problem if we are talking about separate buildings with independent drainage systems though. Painting it a light grey to match the weathered galvanised sheeting, or better still painting the old and new roofs (providing they are on differing structures) would be one solution, but if the new zincalume is an addition to an existing structure you have to decide to go either all galv or or all zincalume / colourbond. (Colourbond goes onto a zincalume base). I hope that you still have room to move with your project, all the best,
Rob.
