I had already read the thread about the battery substitution and it is very helpful. I had thought though that a high airflow from a remote source would be good.
I use pedestal fan positioned to blow dust out the door onto my yard. I imagine the wood dust breaks down and gives the grass something to munch on...Helps in summer also..
If there is the slightest breeze any fine dust will ride the breezes away from your shed. The half residence time of fine dust is about 30 minutes so even a 1km/hr breez will disperse the dust a long way from a shed.

I used one for a few years before I got my fancy one, seems to work pretty well and certainly more comfortable than no fan. Get some rechargeable AA batteries unless you have shares in Duracell

Blurb says it has P1 filters and P2 are optional - I would definitely get the P2 as P1s are near useless.

I wonder how much noise it makes?

The noise is quite acceptable, a bit of background noise (radio/machine/dust extractor) and you don't even notice

I have tried one of these
PureFlo PF3000 Powered Air Purifying Respirator - OTB Products

Not exactly cheap. They do have a cheaper version which I think is the same as the Trend Airsheild sold by Timbecon. I was trying to include hearing protection and a P2 rating for the filtration. The problem I found was the weight and the narrow field of vision.
