Just a quick Thank You to: John, Neil, Jim, Ben and Bob, for your good wishes, it certainly helps when there is someone out there who understands. I am the sort of person that can't sit still for 2 minutes, been like it all my life, and when something like this happens it really sits you on your backside.
I enjoy this forum, there are a lot of very genuine and sincere members and when you are lost for things to do during he daytime, it's great to be able to sit down and read some of the comments. I hate TV, so that's another no-no for me.

    Thanks again,
    Kind Regards,
    Ron.

^ I know what you mean Ron. For all of my life i have constantly working on all sorts of different projects. Any spare time, weekends, etc was used as working time. It was the only way to get things done.
Prior to being first diagnosed in 2004 i was very sick for around 3 months. I was completely incapable of doing much at all.
I was lying awake for around 20 hours a day for the better part of those 3 months.
BUt during that time i learned patience. . NO choice really.

As well as that, times of recovery are valuable times for sorting out your own thoughts. I was a member of a music forum back then. During my recovery times i would use the time putting my thoughts in order and trying to compose them into words that i could post on line. It helped me understand my own mind better and a lot of people have thanked me for the insight into what i was going through.

    Ben.

    Regards,
Your right. So can you imagine how great it is to be someone who fully realises that every single day AND who is also incredibly lucky to be relatively unimpared, and have had several years of fully abled health in which to live like that?

I have done so many things since 2004. But the greatest thing i have learned is that in life there are many things that we have control over and many we dont.
Make the best choice you can with the things you can affect when you are able. Acknowledge the things you have no control over but dont dwell on them.

You may not solve all the worlds problems but at least deep down you know you have done what you can and nothing has been your fault. There is no room for thinking "oh i should have done this or that". That is a good life in my opinion.

I'll just sweep up the tumble weeds that have gathered in this thread since my last two posts in order to create some room for some good news

I had a blood test Monday and another this morning.
During that time my platelet count has risen to the highest that it has been for a while. And this is without transfusions or other treatments.
This shows that my body is starting to naturally produce them as it normally should.

regards to those here with terrible health problems, my thoughts are with you...

i think one of the most important things when you can't do much because of poor health is to have an interest that makes you happy, (sitting around watching telly is a no no) surely the chemicals produced from doing things you find exiting are benificial to recovery...

thankfully the computer was invented or we'd all be nuts by now, forums are one such form of great enjoyment...

a little while ago i started selling a few things on ebay...very exiting.give it a go, it's great fun...

i wanted to improve my listings so i started learning html/css code...very exiting too...

now i'm getting into website construction and it's fantastic, i can create at the speed of thought in the comfort of my chair...i never imagined doing this , but my point is sometimes one thing can lead to another unexpectly and you can end up finding enjoyment from things you never imagined doing...

you just got to keep an open mind...

more good news. Todays blood test reveals another significant rise in my levels. Which shows a general trend towards a return to normallity. This is doubly good because we havent been relying on transfusions and boosteer shots tom maintain the levels.. WHich can fail if over used.

Glad to hear things are looking up Ben !! I hope things continue to improve for you.

I too have cancer, I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer 12 months ago, since then I have had a major operation to remove my thyroid and 30 glands from my upper chest, and blood transfusions. I continue to get treatment to try and eradicate it from areas they couldnt get to while in surgery.

While recovering from the surgery etc, I found this forum a great help to keep my mind on positive things that I enjoyed, eg: woodworking, instead of dwelling on the negatives,
    anyway, all the best,
    Ironwood.

Cheers sounds good. That is unless NASA want me to colonise MArs or something, given my resistance.
