    Default Near Miss Accident (jointer)

I have always taken care with safety especially when using my Jet 8inch jointer. But the other day I got caught out whilst using my Sundstrom dust Mask....

I'm not sure how it happened but the elastic strap was obviously too long and got caught up in the rotating head ripping my mask to pieces.

Fortunately the elastic snapped and ended up wound hard around the jointer head near the bearing and stopped the motor and threw the circuit breaker.
No major damage but it could have been disastrous......

A bruised arm is a reminder for me to take more care

Lesson: Watch out for elastic straps

Very lucky buddy, as you say, could have been much worse.
If all you recieved is a bruised arm, then a good outcome for a potentially bad one.
