No blade guard, no push stick, leaning over the unguarded blade, no safety glasses and most importantly no hector the protector.... what could possibly go wrong.

I'd be pretty sure he won't do it again though.

...and no, or an inadequately adjusted, riving knife.
I know of two people who have ended up in hospital, one of them for many weeks with major injuries, because of no or an inadequately adjusted riving knife.
That was a 'low' hit with a small piece of wood in the video and probably did no more damage other than to his pride. In the instances that I am referring to the long heavy pieces of timber lifted up on the back of the exposed blade and launched upwards at high speed to strike at head height.Stay sharp and stay safe!

Ouch allright! I'm OK! NOT!
The whole saw setup - blade selection, height of blade, riving knife height, alignment of riving knife / blade guard support, riving knife thickness to saw blade kerf, etc to match stock and sawing task is critically important, for personal safety, and cut quality. Not forgetting an assessment of what the stock is likely to do as it is passed through the saw.
Then there are the questions we all should ask every time, is the TS the best tool for the task? What are the potential hazards using the TS for this task? Can I perform the task safely?
If we are honest, we have all been guilty of taking a short cut, to save time etc.
So many dangerous setups on FB, Youtube , social media in general.Mobyturns
