Thread: Just a Reminder

Hi Guys,
On wednesday 25th Jan I was cutting strips of timber to make some decorative cheese boards to take away on Holiday to friends in New Zealand. I need to made 4 boards and near the end of the day I found that I need to cut of a painted edge of 2 of the strips for my boards. Not sure why I pushed the 2 boards through seperately and on the last peice managed to catch the middle finger on my right hand. I put a small and not too deep cut in the top of knuckle in the middle of my finger with the table saw. I know swlack work practice and I was thinking how lucky I was at only cutting my finger. Went inside gave it a wash and put a bandaid on with mercuriechrome (how ever you spell it). Went to work next day no problems, but on the friday I noticed my hand looked swollen, so off to the Doctors friday arvo. Lots of strong anti biotics swab the puss and told if it does not improve in 24hrs time go to hospital. How can you go to hospital with this tiny cut about 18mm long. Sunday morning not sure its improving better just check with the hospital. Was admitted had to surgury twice and spent 41/2 days in Hospital, still of work and have to get the wound checked next week which is now 3 times as big due too them tring to get all the muck out.

How many time have I cut my self in the past and nothing happened I dont know ? I have been given several lectures (fair enought) but I did not realise that the bacteria can attach the lining of the joints very quickly, So take note dont be a d**k Head like me. And I normally use a push stick. I also had to cancel a 3 week Holiday to New Zealand as well which Im sure will be covered by insurance. I now have even more respect for my tools !!!
