Default Tecmen powered faceshield vs 3M adflo vs 3M versaflo

Anyone tried/seen the Tecmen PARP system?

Tecmen FreeFlow G10 PAPR Face Shield | First Class Welding Supplies

I think its new to the market and cheaper than the 3M units. The earmuff attachments for the Tecmen apparently arent assigned to Australia yet.

I think the 3M flows air from the forehead down, and the Tecmen flows at the mouth/nose area as the air is plumbed down the sides of the shield

Tecmen I think its easy to switch between faceshield and welding helmet

Also, what is the different between the 3M adflo and 3M versaflo? I dont understand why they have 2 systems.

The versaflo seems like you cant get the welding helmet, whereas the adflo seems like you can get both?

Seems like the versaflo is mainly for air purifying only whereas the adflow is marketed towards welders but also can have faceshield only?

    3M's website sucks

    Ordered Adflo with versaflo shield

will get welding helmet in the future if I can justify it/do more welding

the earmuffs designed for the versaflo (H31P3) shield is rated at 28db. If wanting higher level or hearing protection the 3M peltor X series can be added with adapter 3M XA007702625 Z3AF/2.

just for future reference if this gets searched by someone else

decided to get adflo over versaflo as the blower units are like for like according to 3M and gives me the ability to add welding helmet if i ever want to

Thanks for posting this, do you use the Adlfo for any woodturning and general dust filtration? I like the design and functionality of this unit it seems to be better than the Tren pro wood turners mask im considering but am still researching

I dont do any woodturning so cant really help with that specific use. I use it for all woodworking, even when using hand tools as I get allergies. I have used it for metal grinding, brush cutting, chainsaw

After having used this setup extensively my only regret is the ear muffs.

    Access Denied

Here are the Peltor earmuffs you can get, I got the X5 which are the quietest. Its VERY quiet, especially with in ear headphones with active noise cancellation which is nice. BUT also heavy so when they are flipped up the whole thing can be quite top heavy. When on the ears the weight hasnt really bothered me.

I dont know if its my head, but when the headband sits comfortably so that the faceshield sits proper, I also find that the earmuffs are slightly too low. I move the ear muffs up but it sits really tight against the top of the faceshield. I have gotten used to it but sometimes I wonder if I am better off getting a neckband earmuff and dont have to deal with the weight when take them off

Did you end up going with a neckband? I ordered the attached earmuffs from 3M and they don’t sit right the noice coming in from the dusty sounds amplified as it’s leaking in rather than without earmuffs. Was considering if the neckband 3ms would sit ok given the helmets position or whether I re mount the existing bracket a little higher so they actually cup my ears correctly

Yeah ive got these now and got perfect whilst using the face shield

    3M Peltor Optime I Neckband Earmuff 28db Class 5 (H510B) - SafetyCulture Marketplace

The earmuffs that screw into the helmet are fine but the lack of adjustments frustrating and makes the noise worse. No longer a problem with neck band. I’ve contacted 3M directly to explain this as I now can’t return the attached pair and they’re $65. A shame

I have the versaflo and use Peltor neck band earmuffs. I have found in the past that Peltor helmet mounted earmuffs dont give as much noise reduction as the Peltor neck band variety. I felt that the helmet muffs didnt seal as well against the side of my head.

I’ve been using this face shield with the seperate ear muffs increasingly to dimension timber on my combo machine. Today was a solid 3 hrs in the workshop and I’ve noticed once I come out that my sinuses are amazing, no extra ear ringing (tinnitus kinda flare up) my glasses are still clean and no sawdust in my beard haha

The real test will be on the lathe tomorrow to turn some bowls but I’d go as far to say this is one of the best workshop purchases I’ve ever made. They’re not the exciting tool purchase as it is with other tools or machines but I certainly feel good after each session so I hope this keeps me breathing easier long term to keep woodworking

Those who wear/have tried the versaflo with the attached muffs, do you notice that it is much louder if the noise is coming from 45 degrees from your ear? this is something Ive noticed recently

Yeah louder than what it is to just take them off. Doesn’t help if you already have something like tinnitus ringing in your ears already.

I’ve removed them and use another pair. Drastically improved the protection
