Default Trying to adjust riving knife while forgetting to turn off the saw

Well.. had a bit of a f&%$en genious moment three weeks ago...
Was ripping some timber, and on the second last piece.. riving knife moved a bit causing timber to hit it...
Well off course it was the second last piece and I was
    a) keen to get it done
    b) a bit tired
    c) wanted to do more projects ...

So in a heat of the moment something in my mind told me ... just nudge it back and finish it off... the problem is that same voice forgot to tell me to turn the table saw off...

Fortunately damage wasn't too serious... but it did slow me down for the past few weekends...
Pretty much peeled (read mangled) all of the skin from the tumb
As I was nudging the riving knife, I've accidentaly hit the spining blade sideways with my thumb
Another fortunate thing was that I'm also a first aider so everything was wrapped up into a nice little package and taken to doctors for a cleanup..

Well it pretty much healed... (took three weeks for it to heal.. )
    Still fairly tender to touch...
Most likely it will take another few months to get my fingerprint back..

Gee its hard to practice first aid on your own hand.
At least you can still , many others can not.

    Wishing you a speedy recovery.

If you ever do. I am glad you didn't do any more damage.

well almost four weeks later since my post...
    thumb is still tingling...
    fingerprint is slowly comming back...
there is very thick hard scarring tissue where the cut was...
I think I might accidentally burned it a bit... (there is an indentation resembling burn mark.. yes I was touching hot screw straight off the grinder but didn't feel the thing)
I do have general feel but I think I can't sense temperature.. so touching stuff is ok.. (with feeling stuff there comes almost painful tingling sensation)
Still have serious pins and needles but it is slowly getting better
At least now I can use my thumb and continue working in the shed...

Got a little history here with my bandsaw machine , I have a very horrible encounter with it because I was kinda careless using it one time. I thought it I'm gonna lose my fingers forever but thank God I still have 10 , still complete. Remember, Safety first always .
Good to hear that your thumb can work again now .Hahaha

Sounds like nerve damage, that can take a very long time to heal.
Every day is better than yesterday
