I hope that he gets to work in Australia.

We need all of the emergency doctors that we can get.

What with the sharks, and the crocodiles and the world's most venomous spiders and the world's most venomous snakes and the killer jellyfish and not forgetting the drop-bears, of course.....

On the other hand, you have the most dangerous animals on the planet over your way. ie people with hand guns.

I hope that he and his family get here and have a great time.

And....the Charleville was one of the muskets used in the American Revolution. Just change it to Charleville1776 and we could be brothers in arms.
Remember, the purpose of guns in the hands of the citizen is to STOP aggression and denial of freedoms.

Wow! I could be a musketeer!

I reckon that one of the major differences that your son will discover about Australia is our general attitude to guns.

Fear of personal attack is nowhere near as high here as it is in the USA. Sure, we have violent crime but our homicide rate is only about a third of the USA level per 1000 population according to Google. It is not something that is top of mind here.

On the other hand only 8% of Australians regularly attend church versus 40% of Americans.

I wonder if the two statistics are related.

Ours is a more secular society.

Our son received another set-back. He was sent another stack of paper to fill out to qualify for his temporary medical license. He is now convinced the system is designed to discourage new or exchange doctors in Australia. If he isn't approved this time he will abandon the project and work in New Zealand. They have come to like Australia and enjoy living in Port Macquarie and very much like the people there. He didn't expect this when he was originally 'invited' to do the exchange. Very unfortunate.
