mate hang in there my heart empathises. I was on bed rest for the whole of my last pregnancy due to the fact of placenta breaking away. We had all the fears of loosing bubby. He is now 5 and we forgot the daily heartache. Know that I am praying for you wife nothing harder then being on bedrest with other children. It a long haul of not being able to do much. Does she sew or crochet or something to pass the time away?

Things have changed for the worse. The suture has worked but the previous scan it was 25mm, now it's 19mm and had it not been for the suture we'd have a dead baby.

On Monday Kylie had a scan and her fluid is excessive. So there are two options:

1. A fluid redcution - but once Kylie has had one she has to keep going back for more - they are extremely painful and come with a risk, and which happened with Sarah, is that the needle could punture her omentum which could lead to infection and bring on a very premature birth.

2. take medication that has been proven in the U.S. to reduce the fluid, but it's not yet had medical trials in Australia. Kylie was to be part of the trials - but that's gone by the by. For the medication there are no cons.

Her specialist that does the cervical scans wants a fuild reduction. Her other specialist, who is currently on holidays inti Monday does not - no guesses for our preference.

So it's now a wait until Monday for a phone call, which will be most likely be to come into hospital until the little person says hello. While she's in hospital Kylie's diabetic levels need to be monitored around the clock, she would also be on steroids to give the baby the best chance.

At the moment Kylie is counting down the days until Monday to hear from her specialist regarding the medication over the fluid reduction.

Kylie is as of Sunday just gone 23 weeks, 24 weeks and chances of survival are slim for the little person. In the meantime the pain has increased dramatically, on her back, pelvis, ribs - everywhere.

Past Sunday which will be 24 weeks - I really don't think Kylie's body will hold on for much more. To say it simply - things are scary.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier to your posts Lubbing5cherubs and Gingermick, thanks for the comments and your prayers. Kylie had been doing some cross stitching - but even that now is difficult. She is now only having a shower every two days to keep movement down to a minimum.

Waldo, words are fairly insignificant in situations like this, but for what it is worth we, Johanna and I, are thinking of you three and sending positive thoughts your way.

We hope that all will be well in the end, keep your chin up.

Yesterday Kylie was experiencing increased pain over what she had already been enduring and also more pressure on her cervix. So she rang her specialist and they organised a scan in East Melb' as soon as possible.

The scan.

The doctor doing the scan was flabergasted that Kylie could be having this a second time over as it's a very rare thing to happen and also the build up of fluid - which in diabetics doesn't normally happen until the lst several weeks. He took a measurement of the fluid and it's risen from 30 to now be 32. Her cervix has shortened from 19mm to 18mm. These didn't raise too big an alram bell, but to err on the side of caution she's been hospitalised in Fances Perry for pain management and close monitoring.

So she's now in hospital until the birth which could be anytime between now and 30 weeks.

SWMBO has it on good authority that Francis Perry is the best venue in Australia for your Kylie.


SWMBO had several failed pregs. And was attended to there. Before my time with her.

Yep, we need all the prayers we can get.

And Rgum, they're good value at Frances perry, if I'm there at the right time the person shuffling the morning tea/arvo tea trolley will ask if I want a coke and pastry. Sorry to read about the failed pregnancies .

Visited Kylie today with my beautiful little girl and MIL, she had a really good day today was feeling much better pain wise and overall.
