Default A poem I would like to share

A poem I wrote today maybe some of you would like to read it.

    Rain falling
    Fire burning
    Mild Warmth fills the room
    Taste of hot tea
    Finest of wood shavings
    Floating gently to the ground
    Smell of freshly planed gum
The joy of razor Sharp hand tools
    Gliding across the timber
    Hand tools become
    An extension of ones
    Mind, body, heart and soul
The birth of a wooden sword
    Years of knowledge
    Year of skills
    The pursuit for perfection
    Heart, soul the human sprit
    Carved into the timber
    Rain is now clearing
    Golden light melts
    Darkened clouds
    The wooden sword
Is alot like the martial mans journey
    A beginning
    A end
    A life time of skill
    A life time of hardship
    Upon completion
    Before the setting sun
    500 cuts are made
    Balance and feeling
    Are tested
    In a floating world
    Of madness and suffering
    I have found peace
    My beginning
    A true birth
    Before I leave this earth
As nothing more than dust in the wind
    My mark will be made
    Watching a setting sun
    Water dripping from trees
    I breathe in calming
    The world before me
    Journey of pain and suffering
    Journey of strength and joy
    My place in this world
    Has been found

How do you find time to make 500 cuts and write a poem in 1 day?

An interesting mix of Haiku like images and raw emotion.
Lots of mixed philosophies as well.
    Well done grasshopper.
Just fix the one spelling mistake in tenth last line .
    It should say
    "as nothing more than dust.
"then" is to do with time.
    Cheers

500 cut’s HA! That’s just a warm up 10,000 cuts is for dinner. An army of ninja's are my scribes kung-fu monks make my tea this way I have time to train my self in these arts e.g. stopping a bullet with a single finger, killing a man by looking at him and 1,000 monkey punches in 1 min that kind of thing.

All jokes aside the 500 cuts test is important. A wooden sword might feel good when you pick it up
But the true test is using it till you feel tired. The 500 cuts is a simple cut called Shomen Uchi (cutting down from the head to about the hips) then after those 500 cuts are done. You then perform 5 other forms of cutting done 20 times each this way I have found I get the true feeling of the sword. Same goes for a real sword 2 cuts on bamboo it might cut nice and clean that tells us it’s sharp but how would it go after cutting bamboo 500 times.

    Thanks

But if you measure twice everytime then you will only need to make 250 cuts.

So are you counting these 500 cuts? I mean, would it be a matter of life or death if you stopped at, say, 457? Or what if you accidentally went to 507? Would that be a problem for you? I only ask because it must get very boring.

Best not talking about punching monkeys around here, Zed might get excited.

    silentC,
My mind is always on my breathing this is how I count no it's not a matter of life or death but this is a point where my arms really start to feel the stress of the cutting form so I set the mark at 500. The way I count breathing in I raise the wooden sword above my head performing the cut I breathe out that’s one cut. I don't lose count because I spent time get myself into the right state of mind. It might sound funny but my mind is always on the weapon I spend time clearing my mind from everything but what I’m doing.
