What's on the lower barrel of the Olivewood pen? A foam grip?

I like the look of the toothpicks in the cocobolo pen, but I'm not sure about the Yellowheart or the kit itself. It all looks a bit... "busy" to me. But I like plain'n'simple and am often surprised by what others Ooh & Aah over, so what do I know?
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Left hand pen is fussy, showy interesting conversation piece ,good exercise, very acceptable gift depending on the person, have fun make the choice theirs.Like the style and simplicity of the right hand one,not sure about the grip, but if it will be in continual use it may be better choice. Have fun Peter

The grip is just that no wood under this is how the kit is sold. The tube is slightly bigger than the upper tube <which is 8mm> I am gonna try to turn a lower part for another pen.
