2 fountain pens and 2 sierras
Managed to finish 4 more on the weekend
A Baron in Tas Eucalypt
And my first Churchill also in Tas Eucalypt.
I think I really like this timber. It looks a lot better in real life then in the photos, but you get some idea
And two sierras
One is coolabah
The other is dyed brown mallee. This was an experiment for a young lass at work who wanted something very dark. I dyed this piece of mallee and made a natural mallee. You guessed it, she took the natural. I sanded this one back a bit to lighten it and this is the result. It may end up as a user. Unless someone really likes it.
All pens were dipped in lacquer a number of times. In fact this is the second time for the coolabah. I wasn't happy with the result of my previous attempt.

great work mate, i like the baron
that last one doesn't cut it for me either however i made a greeny-goldy resin pen a couple of months ago which i didn't think much of, yesterday a lady just had to have it, which surprised me to no end, one just never knows.

Banished to the shed - now there's a wish
unlikely however as I'm the cook
The problem with dipping is to be super careful with the ends as the lacquer can chip.
How do I know that
Yeah I can't disagree, not really me but someone will probably like it, maybe
The Baron will have a new owner this mornin.regards

Nick, I partial to the Tas Eeucalypt timber ... but all the pens are very nicely done.

All four pens look like they were made by a professional. Exceptional fit and finish. I think I actually like the dyed brown mallee best. It's stately.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Thanks chaps
I'm partial to the tassie eucalypt as well - so were the customers
It seems like sacrilege to dye brown mallee, essentially because it is such a spectacular timber a la naturale. But having said that I might try some different colours in the near futureregards
