2 latest PR pens
These are the 2 latest pens I have turned with my new mandrel set-up. I am very happy with the new mandrel, it has solved a lot of the problems I was having.
The first is a Sierra with one of Bruce's (woodNworkshop) Bollywood blanks, it was reverse painted Black. This was a leftover piece from my last Bullet pen order.

This one is a Full size Gent with an Avocado blank that I got in a group buy, a year or so ago, from Exotic Blanks. It is also reverse painted black.

Both very nice pens,
I too have some of the Bollywood blanks to turn, so it is nice to see what they look like before I do.
I also placed an order with exotics way before Christmas and the parcel has gone missing so somewhere in the world are some Avocado blanks along with many others as well as a nice selection of Truestone blanks and pen kits. Not a happy chappy right now.
Nice Pens
Cheers
Tony.

Thanks Cookie.
I always use 2-part epoxy ( Araldite type glue)
At present I am using the 15 minute stuff from GPW, I am almost out and they are out of stock, so I might have to go back to the 24hr stuff, as I can get that locally, but its more expensive.

Thanks Tony, I was a bit surprised with the Bollywood blank, I wouldnt have picked that colour myself, but it was requested by the Guy who ordered the bullet pens, it turned out quite nice. No doubt it will be snapped up by one of the fairer customers.
Hey, thats a bummer with the Exotics package. thats a worry as I was thinking about ordering some Truestone blanks as well. My wife has put her order in for a Polymer clay blank as well.
Does anyone in Australia sell Truestone blanks ?

I am not sure if Truestone is available here in Aus? i have not seen any available. Although Bruce had a couple he was playing around with but I think he may have brought them in as well.
I think my problem lies with either USPS or Aus Post but until they sort it out between them who knows and until then Exotics cannot do anything, so few more weeks to wait I think. Ed has indicated he will work with me on it, so fingers crossed and we shall see.
My order was placed on the 27/11/11 long time to be waiting. $200 Hard to come easy to go
Cheers

Thanks Ian.
Thanks Greg.
This is only the second pen I have done the finial like this, but it is fairly easy.
The original piece ( in this case it was black plastic ) knocks out easily with a pin-punch from the inside.
Use the leftover piece of your blank, held in a chuck with pin jaws or similar, turn it down to the same size as the old bit and polish it the same as the penblank.
I use medium CA to hold it in place, dont use too much or it will squeeze out and make a mess .
It really adds an extra touch to your pens.

Both very nice pens but that green is a killer. I have used it before and found I needed to reverse paint the blank. Did you find the same thing or is that kit left with enough material where you do not get so thin when turned??? Thanks for showing.

I knew yours came from the US, but the the one you gave me looks the same colours as the one Bruce has on his website.
Thanks JT, I play it safe with all my resin pens, and backpaint, I usually paint mine white or the same colour as the blank, but just lately I have been using black.
