    Default I'm in trouble...

    Hi,

I just received this parcel from EactCoastCT today. Funny - the USPS tracking code says they still haven't received it

What absolutely spectacular pens I don't know how he's done them, but they look awesome. Finish is just perfect! Two of them as well - my wife is chuffed to be getting one

The box also included 6 blanks - 4 pearly acrylics, 1 canadian shredded dollar note and a spalted dogwood. I suspect the pens are spalted dogwood with an acrylic, but I don't know for sure.

I'm now glad I haven't posted mine yet - I've got this weekend to make it a *lot* more special to come anywhere near this lot

Oh, and appologies for the rubbish photography. Digital SLR, Pro series lense and an impatient photographer

A huge thank you to EastCoastCT and to the organisers
    Cheers,
    Dave

Stunned would be a good adjective to use to describe how I felt when this arrived today.

I was expecting a pen, not a work of art.
The photo fails to highlight this wonderful work…Peter (penpal) has done a extremely detailed job of fashioning a hexagon shaped pen, and used a kit I have never seen before.
Along with the desk rest, it is one of the most beautiful objects of art in my collection.
    Trust me, the talent shows.
    Thanks again, Peter.

There are some pretty special pens flying around the world at the moment. The thing I like most about the swap is that you know the pens going to another turner which means you need to bring your A game to the table.
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

And I now know that my " E " game is not going to make the grade

Its all relative... the pen that I have sent doesn't come close to some I have seen swapped already but it forced me to pull a couple of rabbits out of a hat and push that little bit harder. It also means that I have set a new benchmark for myself and I now need to work up to that standard.

At the end of the day, it makes you a better turner and everyone in the swap is willing to accept that we all started somewhere.

Good .... I hope my swaper does not get too disapointed with my newbie turning skills when they get it.

    Look what I got

Not only am I absolutely stoked... Little Corbs can't get the grin off his face

Pretty sure Little Corbs' is curly maple and assuming mine is Buckcherry Burl but waiting to hear back from Mack for confirmation. Mine will be coming in to work with me and taking up pride of place on my desk.

Canada post must have been watching this thread and the poor comments about them as this one was sent only 6 days ago

Thanks Corbs It looks like the Dayacom on Timberbits site , may be an alternative although not sure I would trust a magnet to keep a pen together in your pocket cheers ~ John
