Nice pen from what I can see.
Try taking the photo outside, out of the direct sun, and on a mid grey surface and background. I have found a small carpet mat we have works perfectly. You should find that it won't be so dark as it is on a white surface using a flash.
I hope you don't mind. but I have Photoshoped your picture a bit so that others can see a bit more detail in your work (I am no Photoshop expert).

Having met Tim I know he takes all on board, not sure what camera or if he's using just a phone will do my best to find out.
I'll contact Barry, Tim's mentor and Tim's mum and see if they can assist Tim in getting better photos. Just a reminder about Tim.

Thanks for the update Wheelin, and an excellent blog you posted. I think most people were aware that Tim had some difficulties, but you have given us a much clearer picture of him. Tim sounds like a fantastic guy who is out to achieve more in life than a lot of other people without any afflictions. Good to see he likes his country music, and this weekend will be special for him with Tamworth happening.
I am sure anyone who comments is only trying to assist and not condemn, no matter who posts.
Again, thanks for the insight.

Thanks for taking the time to have a read Tim is a bright young man and a very busy one. Its goo o see the support Tim gets from all who comment and click "like"
I have spoken with Barry & his mum before and have just sent his mum another PM elsewhere to see if we can help in anyway or they can. I know his brother is into photography I wish he could take them for him.
I saw no-one condemning Tim even I posted about the photo/s .........some of them being timber I sent up or have given him to use. All is good we can only hope for better photos.

Sorry to hear Barry not well, hope he gets well quickly, Timbo coming along really well, those simple tips on lighting would really help display his work . Amos
