Nicely done, Amos. I think it's great just the way it is. Are you thinking of making one out of metal?
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Yes Al, I am considering that, however-just a little ways down the line, I am trying my third with a VERY difficult material called , "Quadroperlato", old style Italian resin type that melts very easily, I am on my 4th attempt at it, but I will continue until I succeed. Amos

Thanks Les, it is the mechanics of it all that is a learning curve,(I am new to the metal lathe), however, experience from making pens does carry over and helps in closed end and finishing. Amos

Closed End Mandrel
Just a couple of questions. Where would one pick up a closed end mandrel in Aus? And i am looking at picking up a metal lathe in order to turn softer metals although I am noticing more and more that this may not be necessary. Heaps of people seem to be turning aluminium on a wood lathe. (I am assuming with HSS wood tools?)

Great job Amos. I am with David on this. Being this is a new areana for you in the pen turning world you should keep the first couple and look back at them at a later date and see just how far you came. I am sure this happened when you turned your very first pen. I wish I had kept mine.
looks like you are hooked. Move over Mount Blanc.
