Looking good Froggie. What's the finish? Certainly looks like a nice shine.

Finish
The finish is Rustins Plastic Coating and the only way I could get a brilliant shine like that was to use 5 coats and bake it after the last one. I baked on about 60 degrees for about 6 hrs.
The finish is nothing short of perfect I am mega happy with it, I have been trying for ages to obtain a shine like it and now I finally have it, the Purpleheart is almost irradescent.

Pen Photos
G'day Froggie
Just a tip from a photographer friend of mine - get some light grey paper or material (the pros use 13% grey from camera shops) to use as your background. As it is colour neutral, it will not distract the camera's light meter and you will get the best exposure for your subject, the pen and its woodgrain.Subvert the dominant paradigm!
