    There are only 1000 of these trees indigenous to Australia,from a deads 200 yr old tree.

    Mainly just the sapwood unfortunately. Does not show the deep purple/black peuce colour from which inspires it's name.

    Not so, though I thought the same once.
    The species name comes from the Greek word for PINE because of the trees pine-like foliage
