Alternative accelerator for CA
Hi Guys
When applying a CA finish on my pens, I use to use Mitrefix as an accelerator.
I have found a cheaper more readily available product.
I have been experimenting with a few alternatives and found Glen 20 to be best. Its cheap and makes you workshop smell fresh.
This is what the pen looks like finished.

Watch the video and let me know what you think of it.
Thanks for watching.

Glen 20? Wonder if they will use that in their promos? I hate the smell of the stuff though. : Do they have an odourless version?

Hi David,
Just watched your video on your new accelerator, there was some frosting on the CA at the end. Was this just on the final top coat? It has buffed out to a beautiful finish. Just wondering if you have any concerns if the finish clouds up latter. Will grab a can tomorrow and give it a go. Thanks for the heads up.

Very nice, the cost of the accellorator was putting me off the ca finish I must admit. Thank you for the informative vid.

There is some frosting on the CA at the end. The frosting is only on the surface and not contained within the CA finish. The final buff took out to frosting on the surface.
No problems about doing myself out of a sale, just trying to save some hard earned cash. I think its a bit wrong for me to tell others to use the expensive stuff when I use the cheap stuff.
I will experiment with a few other products over the next few weeks. I will let you know how it goes.

Hey David, thanks for sharing your amazing discovery . I've got one of your pencil kits sitting on the lathe ready to roll. I'll sneak in & replace the Glen 20 in the dunny with Mitrefix and see if the wife notices Cheers.

Thanks for posting the idea Dave. Very intriguing. I'll have to give it a go at some point. the smell might be an issue, but then again MitreFix isn't exactly the nicest stuff to breate in...
Cheers,
Dave...but together with the coffee civility flowed back into him
