Troy, congrats on getting a light tent

    Good looking pen, nice work.

I take it the light tent is white?

If it is, your camera is underexposing, light meters work by giving you the correct exposure for a medium grey.

    You have two options

1 Get a medium grey bit of art board, get your correct exposure off that, then take you pic with that exposure.

2 (what I do) take a bracket of about 3-4 photos, normal exposure, +1/2, +1, +1 1/2, + 2stops over exposed. most of the time the +1 1/2 stops will be the one you want.

What camera are you using? Can you do manual exposure settings.

I use a digital SLR, use the Aperture Priority mode, set the f stop to around 11 - 16, the camera picks the shutter speed. It is slow (no flash) so it sits on a tripod.

    Confused yet?

Here's a quick "fiddle" in Picasa

Still not quite right, but better original exposure will fix that.
