Ancient Rome in Alumilite.
Here's one of my latest casts. A customer sent me a blank & told me to try & closely match it with some color changes. He does the majority of his work in alumilite, and frankly, I don't think this would work using PR. It came out pretty well on the 1st try, but I normally cast vertically. For this to look right, I had to pour into a flat mold. It's supposed to look like light grey marble. I'm still figuring it out, but here's what I came up with. I really like it on the gunmetal Jr. Gent 1.

Nice looking mix you did there Bob.
Being a novice caster, I dont understand the difference between PR and Alumilite.
Does the Alumilite keep the colors separated better ?Brad.

They are 2 completely different animals.
The colors don't look the same. (some do, but others are different)
For alumilite, you mix equal weights of two resins (similar to epoxy)
You have to use a pressure pot fort alumilite.
You have 7 minutes from the time you mix the resin until you have to have it in the pressure pot. If your resin is warm, you have less time.
Because the time is so short, you do get better separation. In fact it's hard not to get separation.
And the cost for the resin is double here in the states. I'm not sure there is a distributor in Australia.

Oh, I forgot the most important difference.
Alumilite has almost no smell.
