First Acrylics
This is the first set of acrylic pen I have made.
I do not know what the blank was called but it was purchased from Timberbits.
Finished by using acrylic sanding pads and then brasso and car polish.

Well I like them the color and kits go well together also, (one 0f the guys in another place tends to knock out the black bits from the caps and do a matching filial ,either wood or acrylic) I have not done any as yet ,but from examples shown ,does make a huge difference overall. But a great start on acrylics for you, and you can easily see the plus and minus side of both, acrylic finishes are very easy and quick, and will tend to be very long lasting ,you have to work very hard to get similar results for wood I find . Well done cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Well it looks pretty good, but I have to ask since it's topical in another thread, is the tube showing through the blank, or is it just the light highlight on the pen?
Either way, did you paint inside the blank and or the tube?

I can see the tube trough the blank. I can even see air bubbles from the glue. Now I know my gluing is not as good as I thought
I did not paint the tube because I thought it would be OK since it was red in colour but I was wrong
But the good news is every one that has looked at it thinks it is part of the acrylics optical illusion and think it is wonderfulCheers Rum Pig

OK well as I've mentioned in a few places now, my answer is to paint the inside of the blank, not the tube (both if you'er really worried, but I don't do the tube any more).
Funny enough, one of my "failures" where the tube/glue shows through is the pen that I get the most compliments on :P

Nice work RP that the startnow away you go.
Try painting the tubes or using tubes like these Chameleon Pen Tubes - Woodturners Catalog - Woodworking tools and supplies specializing in woodturning.

Nice work
as a novice - painting the tubes and inside of the blanks seems to work
I also use a two part epoxy for the glue up - don't get the bubbles or frothingregards
