Default Bending Poly Resin pen blank.

    Hi all,
I am experimenting with some jewellery, my question is, can I bend a poly resin pen blank if I heat it, I want to distort the pattern and then slice through the bent blank, the amount of bend would not be very much. Thanks for expert replies

I suspect it depends on the type of blank ,poly resin or acrylic acetate ,I think the acetate ones would bend with heat ,not a lot of heat though, I have melted them a bit in a toaster oven by mistake . I have noticed also on some longer blanks when drilling I have seen slight bending at times , so I suspect you will be able to do some slight bending ,with care good luck with it all .cheers ~ John

i don't know if the bend will hold however, i had some sticky PR casts once which i put into a toaster oven, when i pulled them out the had the wobbles

    points to consider
    1. make sure the resin has gone, otherwise i believe it does go off and thats with a bang
    2. have some way to hold the blank in position while it cools - not sure if a quick cool would be a good idea either
    3. make sure the resin has gone, otherwise i believe it does go off and thats with a bang
    4. as John pointed out make sure its a PR not an acrylic blank

maybe neil has tried this and give more info

all the best and keep us posted on how it turns out
