birds eye
we had a few guys in the shop a month or so ago ( shooters from far away ) after talking for a while one of them told me he had a bit of birds eye huon back at his home and that when he gets back he would post it to me .
well he kept his word and a nice bit of birds eye huon burl arrived in the mail a few weeks after they left and headed home .
after it arrived here although appearing very dry i cut a slab off and then cut it into a couple of pen blanks and then left it sit for a couple of weeks just incase it wanted to move some more .it never it is bone dry , anyway i have just finished my end of the deal and made this pen which is going in the post today back to where the timber came from with my modifications made to it .( hope he like's it ) .

Very nice Texx. Just finished a Birds Eye HP myself yesturday. Can't go wrong with that wood. Smells great, turns beautifully, and looks great when finished.

Do like that. Birds eye is very nice looking, but I am sorry to say Huon is not my favourate.

Hi John
Love the birds eye Huon. I can never get sick of turning that stuff.
Great pen - beautiful fit and finish on the pen.

Hi John. Great looking pen mate . I am yet to turn a stick of Birds eye Huon. I'm hoping David (Timberbits) will have some in stock soon. I think he got onto some when he went to Tassie a while ago.

Stunning Pen :-)
Wow a stunning pen you have there. I have been fortunate enough to buy some Huon Pine birds eye recently from the Gold Coast area. The ends are waxed so I'm assuming that I have to wait awhile for it to dry. No problem I love the smell of Huon Pine.
