    Pariss,

Those bark inclusions, semi knots kick up a storm in Huon and you took full advantage of them and I agree with the finish quality it is your usual now of high reflectance. Huon colour varies from white to deep orange and I find it difficult when it is grown in deep mud country it is a plainer brown.

The first item I made near to a pen was a Perfume Dispenser in Huon Pine and it looks as good now as when made in the 1980,s, becoming my first love of timber and this continues to now in progress.

Those many coats of CA you do pay off as this pen shows.

    Kind regards Peter.

Pariss - don't worry - I'll get Neal to bring up a dustpan and brush and follow you around the workshop I'd bring my new Aldi wet and dry vacuum/dust extractor up with me but they only allow 10kg carry on on the plane.

Silky Oak and Maple blanks I take it, rather than the Red Cedar. We will get up to se Mapleman before then. Maybe I'll get him to stain a cedar blank to look like walnut

    Hey Pariss,

Very nice, )). I have just done the Tassie Circut, got a few contacts and about a dozen 3kg post bags sent home, seen lots of Birdseye Huon in finished pieces, funny how nobody has any for sale. 8-(
    once again nice job,

Just about to start a large brass ships clock + barometer wall mounted project for one of my customers, out of Qld Maple, so MEGA mess in the shed for at least 2 weeks. When I was at the timber yard today, they said that Education Queensland has totally banned all forms of Red Cedar from the wood working dept's of every school due to a huge number of severe allergic reactions to the timber among students. Supposedly, the ingestion of very small amounts of Red Cedar dust (as in pen making) won't trigger an allergic reaction, but, if you cop a lung-full of fine dust say from a drum sander, or sweeping up fine saw dust without a dust mask (as I did), then you will become 'sensitised' to the Plicatic acid within the saw dust, and won't be able to handle even tiny amounts of Red Cedar dust for many years.

I'll be interested in seeing that clock. I imagine it will look perfect given your attention to detail
