Birdseye Maple set
Hi Folks
I've been on leave for the last couple of weeks but with trips away, busted car (a long way from home too) and house renno's I didn't really get much shed time. I'm heading back to work tomorrow and thought that I would shout myself a new pen set. Not that there is anything wrong with my current pen but I felt like a change.
So digging through my supplies I have come up with these. The timber is Birdseye Maple that I recieved from my American Brother, Mr Pukashell, in this years Australia Day swap and the kits are a chrome baron II, Rhodium elegant beauty and chrome dagger letter opener, all from Timberbits. The fisnish is the usual 20 coats thin CA, MM all the way, brasso and huts wax.
I took the pics in filtered daylight hoping the true brilliance of the patterning and grain whould show up. The pics of the Baron show a fraction of what they are like in real life but the others didn't really come close. Oh well it might be time to make me a light tent.
As always comments and criticism gratefully accepted.
cheers
Bruce

Bruce,
From one wood hacker pic hacker to another my simple light box. 50mm foam board
conduit pushed together left open no diffusion, top light sits on the top rails one light either side and I move them around. I use a tripod often use the close up from aboveish use around 5000 kelvin fluros on tripod for the side lights and top light, 11 inch by 14 inch copy paper for a curved background and to sit things on.Pic shows how.
Love the pens and the opener, your use of Maple, vary your exposures it works.
Thanks for showing your work it sings.
Kind regards Peter.Nil Desperandum
