    Default Bizarre Timbers!

I have just turned African Rosewood for the first time. It is a magnificent orange colour. I was keen to get a really good finish, so decided to use some wet and dry after sanding to 600 grit. As soon as the timber was wet, it turned a beautiful bright purple. Hmmm, looks superb, but can't call it African Rosewood, may have to change the name to Purpleheart. I dried the timber, and went back to 400 grit and sanded the pen until it was the orange again, then moved up the grits. I then used my sanding/sealer and applied it with a rag, as soon as the rag was in contact with the timber, the rag turned purple and the timber darkened slightly.

The pens looks Okay, possibly should have tried the CA finish. Oh yeah, no photos coz I was too busy

    Regards
    Willy

    What Paul said

What you're describing sounds vaguely familiar but can't think of where/when?
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.
