Try using cleartape to cover the bushes I got the idea to keep EEE off them and now use it when I do CACheers

Use the no mandrel method and finish with out the bushes. Use a 60 degree dead center in the head stock and a 60 degree live center in the tailstock. This will help in the finishing.

I use to have the same problem.
My fix to the problem was to use a Stanly knife to cut the CA surface between the bushings and the blank. I cut 1 - 2mm back from the blank on the bushings. When you do break the surface, you will see the CA change color over the bushings.
You just apply pressure with the knife and turn the blank by hand.
I have not since experienced this problem since using this method.
The 1 - 2 mm dag is taken off with 240grit sandpaper.
Good luck with your next pen.
