    Default Bolt action pens

Is there anywhere else than pops shed to get these pens in Oz. I only need 1 and will not pay $10 postage for it close enough to 2/3rds of the pen cost. people complain about EBay and O/S postage rip offs but this is no better Guess they don't need a lot of mail order customers

Funny thing is one kit like that can be posted for $1.80, say $0.75 for a padded post bag, so $3 to $5 would be a reasonable charge.

Usually the argument is that they have to spend time to send it, but they also have to spend time to serve a customer over the counter (and perhaps spend 10 mins answering questions and discussing the weather)

I agree with you about the postage BUT you obviously have never had to send much to customers because if you had you would soon realize that the actual cost of sending the item from them you in SA could be around $6.50 and if you have had as much trouble as I have had over the last six months by trying to save customer money I have sent items purchased just through normal post and on three occasions I have had them tell me the items have not turned up and I have had to remake the pen sets and send them out again and therefore either making no money on the whole process or in some orders a loss. So I will now send nothing out unless it is in a trackable postbag or something similar so I can be sure the items get there. I think that in the end if the postage is too dear for one item then buy a couple and save some money in the end because I am sure you will need some other kits or accessories.

so in the end the postage isn't that bad at $10

    Cheers Ian

    Default Bolt Action Pens

Agree with Dorno on sending out post items

We have moved to E parcel which is a better system for us as the parcels are trackable.

Eliminates the where is my parcel phone call.

Peter the problem with buying one item is always going to be a killer with postage because you always want to recieve it in one peice. We get this complaint all the time, easy way to fix is to buy more items and negate the post charge.

I can understand when you may only want one item but you have to price the item to cover this, hard when giving away

Fred putting one pen in an envelope does not gaurantee that the tube will not be crushed or the refill bent, the clip bent etc

And not sure if you know Australia Post have increased there charges , some by 30%

Yes we also have the bolt action pens

Yes Jim, am aware that they have, yet again, increased their charges

However, the <500gr 5-20mm thick charges are still based on 60c stamps, which haven't increased (yet).

    up to 125gr $1.20

    up to 250gr $1.80

    up to 500gr $3.00

I agree that trackable satchels are the way to go for safety sake, but I do send smaller bits in padded bags, but give the recipient the choice and they assume the risk.

The cheapest trackable satchel is now (up to 500gr) $8.25, you would still have to put a kit in bubble wrap or padded post bag though.

    Hey There,

i can't imagine why anyone would order 1 pen kit?? If the supplier charges $10.00 postage, get 5 kits = $2.00 each postage. Usually if you order extra stock, you usually get a discount that usually covers extra postage
    Just my 2 cents worth

Unfortunately I only need 1 as its for me. I don't do this as a money spinner but as a hobby. Also as a pensioner 5 @$15 is over my limit.
    Pete
PS I used to mail lots to customers in my former business so yes I know the effort needed

Just because you are a pensioner doesn't mean you need to miss out ,buy 2 kits and postage $40 , sell one for $40 and you have a free pen and also another happy pen owner , I sell these at the markets for $50 and people just love them ( I also am a pensioner ) but pen sales over the last 6 years or so has paid for all my equipment and a bit to spare , and I have a lot of pleasure making and sharing my efforts Cheers ~ John

Selling pen mean I make them to sell not a hobby any longer to me. While some can find buyers in the larger places to make it worthwhile where I am the chances of making a sale is remote. Nice idea but here nope no way. I find making more than 1 of an item is boring but more power to those that do that its just not my thing.
