Default How is this for being bombastic

I tried to order a mandril from this company and wasted 2 hours researching their website. This is the answer they gave me and I just want to bring this to the attention of everybody. Don't waste your time. They are to busy cashing in on their American brothers. Thank you America. Great relation building amoung us pen makers.

We do not ship orders outside the United States. Our domestic orders have reached the point that we no longer have the necessary time to process out-of-country orders as well as taking them to our main post office for shipment.

One solution to overcome this situation would be for us to ship your order to a friend or relative here in the U.S. and they could forward the order on to you.

... and trawling through their/his shipping info doesn't give any real indication that he doesn't ship internationally - I appreciate what a pain it is for the Americans though ... especially when something costs only a few dollars. Over there a postal worker picks up your mail when they drop yours off I believe .... queues in the Post Offices are usually very long and the paperwork for international shipping is brutal I am told... having said all that, I get stuff sent from the US all the time and find the vast majority of folks tremendously kind and accommodating

A lot of companies won't ship as it is too fiddly for them, sad as that is. It would be nice if they had an up-front message but I don't recall seeing any Ozzie companies do it either.

Yep not great, but plenty of willing takers for the Aussie dollar . Very little at AS that is not on other sites though, Another one you need to be careful with is "Steebar" lots of bad reports on that site ,I bought from them right in the beginning of my turning efforts ,took about 4 months to arrive ,seems some orders never arrived at all to others, may have improved by now ,but I would check more current advice . cheers ~ John

Anything from pennstate can be ordered from wood-n-whimsies or woodturningz as they are resellers for PSI,sometimes cheaper as well and they will ship at the USPS flat rate ,which pennstate wont cheers ~ John

Arizona Silhouette won't deal with Canadians either so you are in good company. If you take the time to read to the bottom of the home page you will see that he has some very strong opinions about illegal aliens in the US. For that reason, even if he did ship outside of the US, I wouldn't deal with him. There are plenty of good Americans and Canadian sellers that offer great service to the non-US pen turning market.

As to you Canadians and Alaskins as I have had a message from them as well I say yes, I am in very good company. Thank you for your insight. I was not aware of their insight on illegals. I would hate to be in their shoes as to have to make such a drastic move and live in fear. I moved from Africa to Australia and am in heaven so can understand their plight. I dealt with a Canadian in a pen swap and had just great experiences. My wife immediately annexed the pen he sent me. Great stuff and refreshing to read your comment. Kind regards

I just can not understand why people would isolate the rest of the world just because it is a little harder to post it. I guess these people do not want to make to much money.
If it is so hard to post to us in OZ why not just add a surcharge and then let the punters decide if it worth it. I have never been a shop owner but I have worked in a small shop and I would have been shot if I turned away a customer because that is money.
Anyway I guess if they do not want my money I will not give it them having said that I would rather spend it here in OZ.

Have you tried asking our Aussie suppliers if they can source it for you?

If you are going to WWWS in Brissy next weekend you could ask Jim Carroll or someone from o43 Turning.

    Rodger,

Just testing about the wood show in Sydney see my reply to your outburst on the IAP site. As I vote with my feet try a direct pm to Bill Baumbeck and sign it with your name.

Kind regards among the wood chips.

I have had problems with companies who will not deal with an address in South Africa.
    Rockler
Lee Valley - will but charge ridiculous postage.
Freud - accept the order and get a paypal invoice and then nothing. Do not reply to emails either.

On the other hand Wood'n'Whimsies has been great.
    CSUSA - no problem either.
Wood of 1 Kind in Canada - great service.
