Brasso to the rescue
It's cold and the humidity is high in Melbourne so the CA finishes are a bit hit and miss. I was working on an olive wood pen and just finished gone through the 20 coats of thin CA and MM, the pen looked ok. I went away for a few minutes and then some frosting showed up at the ends of the blanks. Normally this would mean sanding back and re-applying the CA however I applied Brasso a couple of times and with its mild cutting action it removed the frosting, then I put on some Swirl Remover and the frosting seems to have disappeared. A few hours later and I half expect to see the frosting on the pen but it's still ok. Maybe the Brasso had little to do with it but if you're desperate you can give this a go, nothing to lose.

What is "swirl remover" anyway ?

Hi Tiger, it was great that the Brasso did the job. The white must have been on just the surface.
I expect the frosting is due to the rise in humidity you mentioned. CA can turn white when it sets too fast and humidity causes the CA set-speed to increase. You might want to try medium CA during these conditions.
I find fall and spring are the toughest times for CA finishes because the humidity levels change quickly. Both heating and cooling seasons keep the humidity steady and lower. In between seasons have big swings in relative humidity levels.

Most of us have some "EEE" on hand ,and it is also fine to use on a CA finish for a very fine finishing abrasive ,especially on CA cheers ~ John

Thanks Brad for that explanation, I sometimes think that we need a troubleshooting guide for CA finishes so we know exactly why a CA finish doesn't work and how to avoid the same problem next time. I thought the frosting was there because there was a lot of moisture in the air but I'll certainly give the medium CA a try, Winter has only just started here officially and I usually only get to go into the shed after 8 pm so I'll have to deal with CA finish issues for a few months.
