    Default Buck Eye Burl

I got bored trying to install a new OS and all the software after the computer puked yesterday so the garage warmed up to 36ºF and I turned this.

Lots of coffee grounds to fill the craters in this piece of timber.

There are four coats of Med CA and one coat Thick CA, wet sanded and polished out with Tri-M-Ite polishing paper and Brasso.

Lovely example of Buckeye . I really like the creams and yellows with the contrasting greys some of this stuff is like "Balsa" so soft and light, but with the right care and treatment will produce such beauties as you have shown here ! cheers ~ John

Thanks folks for all the positive remarks.

I'm going to stabilize a few of these in some 50-50 white glue and water as this one took an awful lot of coffee grounds and CA ... all the bright brown is coffee and I don't think it looks too bad and blends with the other colors in the timber.

I need to see if I can find some really dark colored beans.

The wife picked this up and said ... "Is this for me?" I had to tell her no it is for the boss' birthday tomorrow.

I have heard Coffee is used to stay awake but here you have used it to demand attention. Beaut pen well presented hard work paid off in Spades.

    Kind regards Peter.

    WOW!
    That's a real beaut.
Terrific finish and fit with a perfect plating to complement the Buckeye Burl's coloring and grain.
    Great photos too.
    Well done.

I use vacuum only. With acetone + foam I use my 3 gal air compressor and a venturi.

With the 50-50 White Glue and water I use a vacuum pump. Can't use the pump with this mix because it eats seals.
and how stable is it after ??
It is stable for turning only with small amount of CA and then you apply your favorite finishing method.
