    Default Bullet Pens

Made some 308 bullet pens to goto Stonehendge in Esperance. Some are made from some local wild deer horn collected for me. The top pen was made using one of Freds 7mm Closed pen mandrels. I have some more photos of pens made with other mandrels Fred has made I am just waiting for my pen swap partners and then I will Post more photos. Hope you like. Cheers Gerry

Look good to me ! seems a lot of care and skill has gone into these ,have you coated the brass for a lasting shine or left to weather , I find also in my market that the double bullets sell the fastest Cheers ~ John

Thanks John, I enjoy making the bullet pens, at first I used to polish the brass but have of late let them age on there own and they sell steadily. I have not tried other bullet kits, I have looked at other kits but decided on this one and to make other styles of pen Kits. Where do you stop?

Hehe! Gerry , we stop where we feel comfortable But for me I dislike repetition, having been involved in it most of my working life, now I try to stretch a bit and try as many different things as I can ,being retired helps hehe. I am currently working on and off to do a parker refill style with genuine bullets ,nearly there I think cheers ~ John

Repetition can be borying and some what anoying but they often pay for the rest of the toys we make and help us to push ourselves to the next level. When I first started making pens I was fortunate that someone put me onto the late Russ Fairfield and he through his DVDs helped me to make other pens with the basic kits. Since then it has been this forum and the IAP site that inspires new ideas. Lately using one of Bigsheds mandrels I have been making Desk pens. Inspired by Ed Davidson. These are fun. Thanks for the comments. Cheers Gerry

What's that saying? something like you must repeat something at least a thousand times before mastery, isn't that the goal with most things Mastery?

More importantly where do I get myself some of that sweet deer antler (it probably isn't that sweet but you know what I mean)

    Default Bullet Pen

    Helld Jack.Tar and HazzaB,
I am all out of Deer antler, I am hoping the boys will be able to get some more but who knows when. The antler is OK to turn if it gets hot it smells but turned slowly it is ok. Hazza the bullet kits are the 308B of Freds, which I am almost out them and must make another order. These kits are very nice to make and the local buyers have told me if they are not real Bullets they dont want to buy them. Most of the people who buy mine are Gun Mad or know someone who is Gun mad.
    Cheers Gerry
