    Default Bullet Pens

I just have a couple of questions about the bullet pens. I purchased a couple of bullet pens yesterday from david but after recieving them TODAY (nice service David) I was a little perplexed when I opened them to find that on the Chrome and even the Upgrade gold that the casings are both chrome. The tops of the casing and the fittings are indeed gold but thats where it finishes
The way I like to see a bullet pen is as close as possible to the real thing. it all comes down to what you or the customer want but I am interested to hear what everyone else thinks ? In saying this I am not knocking davids pens because the quality of them looks great and this is just my opinion.

I have attached a couple of my own bullet pens that I managed to make recently from original bits and two of the blanks are from Big Shed (Fred) and they are the Army cammo and the Navy cammo and may I say his blanks were a dream to turn (thanks fred).

I look forward to your comments

    Cheers Ian

If I remember right all rounds had brass casings. I have never seen nor fired a chrome round yet. But then again I would not bag David ( not saying you are) as he supplies what he describes on his site. Then again I would not make nor try to sell a chrome round pen. It is false as far as casings go. Just my thoughts and no intention to upset anyone.

    Not chrome, but nickel plated.
chrome is too expensive to plate cartridges with, although a lot of high end rifles have chrome plated receivers to cut down on fouling.
Nickel is more durable, wont chip like chrome, and is easy to apply, much more easy than chrome.
These are 308s, a real common NATO round , been in use for decades.
I have a bag of 500 ready to go....

I have a couple of casings a friend gave me. He said they were ss. But when I chucked them up they scratched (ARGH!) showing brass underneath. I would think they are nickel plated.
