Bullet Pens and Flying
Hi all,
does anyone know from personal experience wheather or not you can fly with Bullet pens in your carry on baggage?
My first thought would be no, but I just though someone may have flown with one and knows if they let you throught the screening point, the pens I'm talking about are NOT the real bullet pens but the the replicas sold by timberbits,
i am flying interstate on Wednesday and I have a couple of orders for the bullet pens that I can deliver to the client in person of I am able to fly with them,
Last time I flew with about 30 pens the security took a second look on the X-ray asked to see them then let me through!
Any thoughts / experience would be great!
Cheers Ben

I have flown with real and kit ones without any real issues. Got some interesting comments, but as soon as they see it is a pen, no problem.

You would have to be unlucky, I am currently in Canada and have had no problems on either domestic or international flights and have a case of pens in my carry on, including bullet pens. Only once has a customs officer asked to have a look and that was a couple of years ago in L.A. if there were ever going to be a problem I reckon it would probably be in the states. He was somewhat amused when I showed him the contents and as Neil has found quite interested once he had verified they were not a security risk.
One domestic airport security officer, in Adelaide, has queried the contents as the carry on went through the scanner this trip and was happy enough when I showed him my carry pen (a sierra).

Thanks Guys
Thanks for the response guys,
As i am getting a transfer to the airport I would not have anyone to take them if for some reason they wouldn't let me on with them,
Looks like I can hand deliver the pens now which my customer was hoping for
Cheers Ben

Might not be a problem in Australia but TSA agents have taken too many stupid pills lately . Stories abound! T-shirts with AK-47s have raised their ire (schools take issue with gun-themed t-shirts as well) . I would place anything gun related (e.g., bullet pens) in my checked luggage. If not taking checked luggage, I would likely mail the pens. YMMV in Oz.

I gave a 308 and acrylic top pen to a mate. He took it on holidays to New Zealand, no problems taking it over, but when at the airport in NZ to fly home, they wouldnt let him through with it.
He has a very quick temper, and I heard that he let fly at the people at the airport, which probably didnt help his cause, but the pen remains in NZ, probably in the officials pocket.Brad.

Its not the replica bullet pens that concern me, its the thought of flying
