Bushing sizes for pens.-
I have been meaing to do this ever since Toni posted her thread about tipping out all the bushes from the bushing box. I measured each one of the bushes I have, and there may be a slight discrepancy between new bushes and my measurement, due to wear, and due to human error in reading, and due to build up of CA in some cases.
If you see two measurements Example-Jnr Gent 2 .565 - .567 then .567 is the correct measurement , After recording my own measurements I went through the Pen Instructions, and the correct size was included on some instructions , so I put the correct measurement in.
Ideally it would be good to have pictures of them also, and you are welcome to record these measurements in Word or Powerpoint and include the pictures. The Pen is the one I have been using lately, it is from the pen swap and is from Mike in Nainamo.

Good work. I've been meaning to do the same and chuck it in a spreadsheet, now that I have more than two sets of bushes I keep forgetting though, as my computer isn't in the shed.

Hey nice idea. When you have dozens running around it can take a while to work out whats what. Something good did some out of picking up the wrong bushes once. I used the two smaller bushes out of a vista sierra kit on one and I like it more than using the original large and small one. It seemed to match the two beads near the clip better.

I too once got my bushings all mixed up and spent the better part of an hour with my calipers trying to figure out what went to what. Now, I take one of those small zip lok baggies that the kit pieces come in and I keep my bushing sets in them with a scrap of paper indicating what kit it is for. So far, it is working out very well.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

I am still collecting and sometimes making my own bushes ,still easy to get caught out. I recently bought some kits locally and got the bushes to go with them , when I went to do the pens ,the dam bushes were for a 8mm mandrel, which I don't have as yet,had to make sleeves to fit them on a 7mm mandrel which seems the most common size for the great majority of kits, I just wish that when the sites selling kits and bushes would specify the actual dimensions of the bushes , as I have several sets of bushes which match other kits ,if they were sized you could check before doubling up on bushes, these days I always check the bushes against the kits before I use them as some have been mixed up from time to time, and some are very minor differences measured in thousandths of an inch.

Thank you all for the information, the exercise made me more aware of the precision in measurements, and yes I will need to get some of those small zippy bags-very good idea. Amos

Has anyone tried "Bushing Tracker #2" from MyPenBox, I downloaded the program and tried installing it, but my Antivirus says it could have a virus so it stops the installation, do I shut off the Antivirus? Amos

Amos, downloaded it this morning and installed it.
Works OK, no viruses were dtected by my AVG, seems quite a nice little program.
Have been thinking about writing something similar and have started writing a software spec for it.
Keeps the old seniors brain ticking over I suppose.

OK, will disable my antivirus, it is a very good one and set to the highest level, and gets a bit "touchy" about what it will allow. Thanks Fred, Amos
