Default NOT a CA finish !

Well I replaced the drive pulley wheels on the lathe and had the chance to see if it made a difference to the wobble I am experiencing .... it didnt ... back to the drawing board there.
I had a cigar glued up and ready to be turned so I gave that one the test. It actually came out alright even with the annoying wobble. I was limited for time and decided to sand to 600grit, hit it with EEE-Ultra shine then finish with shellawax ultrashine liquid (3 coats). The pen has a nice feel to it since you can still feel the grain of the wood but the shellawax gives it a nice silky feel at the same time. I am wondering how well the finish will hold up ?? !! I am guessing the wood is Qld Maple (from Mapleman), the kit was from Tony at perfect pens.

I like the shape you made the pen. To me this is the shape that cigar pen should be. As far as the finish goes, no it will not stand up that well especially if the pen sees alot of use. The biggest problem when a finish wears of a wood pen like that is that it becomes dark and dingy. Now if you can maintain it and add additional coats at a later time then that can be an option. Maybe other can give you options for that wood feel. I prefer CA and if I want to dull the shine I just hit it with some nonwoven pads to knock the shine back. Good luck and thanks for showing.

The pen has come up nicely. I agree with JT, unfortunately the finish will dull over time if used. CA for me too.
It's a pity no-one has been able to help you out with your lathe problem.
