Amazing Curtis. Not sure about the millet, have cast it with other stuff to give the birds a treat, but never a pen. Good way to confuse the crap at of the canaries

Loofa - turned out really well and very similar to the cactus. Why continue with the messy process of the cactus, or do you believe the cactus is still better? Just interested in your opinion.

The only real limitation is the dryness of the material. The resin that I use is pretty sensitive to moisture. If there is too much moisture the resin will foam and look bad. Other than that, you have to think about how thick the actual material is on a a pen barrel and decide if the material you plan to embed will have enough definition once most of it is turned away.

The loofa is a nice pen but no where near a nice as the cactus in person. The loofa is more uniform and consistent in patern where the cactus is more random and "wild".

I've been having a good think about this.
I recon there wold be lots of things to cast & turn.
    Stump sections with borer holes.
Nuts of sheoak, eucaliptand so forth.
    Bits of bark.
Hell wood shavings would be worth a try, particularly if you selected the shavings and arranged them "artisticaly"
    Someone did nut shells recently.

    sponge
    someone did cloth recently

Oh Oh Oh...... bits of multi coloured plastic waste.

    still thinking

    cheers

Can't think of anyplace I've seen such a concentration of imagination as with the pen blokes and sheilas. Amazing. Just outright amazing.
