My first casts
Well after watching the casting DVD a couple of times, and also some utube videos, and finally getting all the gear together, I have finally poured my first casts.
I am using PR and vertical PVC moulds, and for these blanks I used Sky Blue and Gold Pearlex as a customer wanted a bullet pen in GC Titans colours.
I didn't achieve the colour look I wanted, but overall I am happy with how it went.
Here are a Sierra and a 30-06 bullet pen with the said blanks.

They look very good to me.
Like the colour combo with just the right amount of swirl.

Nice job Brad, I think the colour is quite cool. Nice finish on the pen too.

Excellent effort on your first cast. I wish my first one was that good. The colour combination looks great with just the right amount of swirling.
Nice photography too.Dallas

Looks Great Plenty of colour nicely blended in the blank. You can take my place in the resin room - I hate the stuff; its timber for me

Thanks TC. I still can't believe I lucked it with my first cast, I am very happy with it, I just hope the next ones turn out as good.
Thanks John. I can see it could be very addictive.
I have a She-oak pod cast in the pressure pot, can't wait to see how it comes out. I have some others in the plan as well .
Thanks Greg. Sorry to hear you are not sticking with it, but if the fumes affect you badly I don't blame you for quitting.Brad.

Thanks Arty. I actually turned the blank for a standard Sierra, at the last minute decided to go with this EB Sierra that was in the drawer. If I had of decided earlier, the top of the blank would have been slightly different, but I think it looks OK anyway.
I think I got lucky Peter. I watched a few videos so had a bit of an idea to wait for the right moment to pour, but when it comes down to it, I think there is a lot of luck involved . No doubt experience will take some of the luck out of the equation, but it will be a while before I am at that stage.
Thanks TD.Brad.
