My first Celtic Knot
Here's one I've had in progress for the last couple of days.
Blackbean, White Cedar, and Coke can on a chrome Sierra. Finished with about 8 coats of CA.
Might give this one to my Dad, he helped me mill up both the trees that supplied the timber about 10 years ago.

Thanks Hazza, I had a trial run first that didnt make it to a pen, drilled a bit offcentre so it looked a bit odd . This ones not perfectly centred either, but I'm happy with it.
Hi Ian, there are a couple of tutorials on this forum, also a few on the IAP.
Its probably not really difficult if you get the process right, and your cuts are accurate (and your drilling). I made my trial run on the tablesaw, and this one I used the SCMS, found it to be a bit more accurate, and repeatable. The tablesaw would probably be OK if you spent the time to make a proper sled for the job though.
I found it quite time consuming, I dont think I could charge enough for the finished pens to cover the labour, so I dont think I'll be doing too many for sale, might put one or two in my lineup with a decent price and see if there is any interest though.

well done mate nice pen , they are addictive and you will do more .
on the labour thing you will find you get a lot quicker after doing a few and setting up gets easier .
main thing is blank dead on square 90 degrees on all sides and drill dead centre and straight .
i found my sliding compound saw the best for the job too . just make a simple jig and clamping system and they are easy to do .
i cut my infill slices a teeny bit thick on the bandsaw then give them a touch up on the belt sander and keep testing till they are a good fit in the slot , and i glue up with 5 minute araldite and light clamp pressure for half an hour then clean the glue off the outside of the blank with a sharp chisel so shes flat again and do the next cut .
