    Default Celtic Knot Longwood

African Rosewood with Maple Knot dressed up in a Titanium Gold Cigar.
This blank was made by Rob (Krenzr) and was part of a blank swap at our 2nd Annual Western Canada Pen Turners Conference in June 2010.
    Thanks Rob, well done!

Sanded to 400x, burnished with turned wood shavings, buffed with Ultrafine Steel Wool, wiped blank down with Acetone, filled pores with Med CA, turned down Med CA, sanded to 400x, buffed with Ultrafine Steel Wool, applied 6 coats of MINWAX Clear Gloss Polyurethane buffing with Ultrafine Steel Wool between the first 4 coats.
No buffing or polishing required for the final finish.

    Les
Excellent work as usual and a great finish. What steps do you take to avoid dust settling on the final coats Les?
    Reality is no background music.

    Thanks John,

To avoid dust settling on the wet finish, I dry in another room away from my shop.

Hi Les. Well, I just hope that whoever you sell or give this magnificent pen to, realises just how much care & time & fine attention to detail you have given to create this great pen. Too many people these days think that 'everything' just pops out the end of a computer operated machine. Great work mate !!

    Les ,

Neat treatment of the Knotted Blank. I will try again to describe my feelings with regard to this pen and others.

Unashamed candour in the presentation pics here it is front, back, sideways , upside down in several views all crystal clear and gleaming.

Simplicity personified I swear you could make a pen from a packing case look great.

As a celebration of my respect next week I will send some choice Aussie standouts for you to weave your magic.

To this end please send me by pm your particulars my filing system is erratic. Want you to know I vote with my feet.

    Kind regards Peter.

I take my hat off to you Les and drink in your honour I would get halfway through that pen and throw it in the worry about it later bin. My time in the shed is very rare these days so if it does not go smoothly then I just move on to the next pen.
For you the time and devotion has paid of with this great looking pen. As Pariss said I hope the recipient appreciates your effort. well done
