Another challenge
This should probably be in the Pens for the Troops forum but will probably not be seen by many there. Just got an email from Australian Wood Review and saw this article by one of our own. Might be something we can also get involved in.

i wonder who that is in the article
Thanks Dallas for posting about the article
Bruce Sanders (Simomatra) is still very much involved, i am working with him on the Australian Pen Turners Facebook page
for ANZAC Day we sent 258 pens to Troops in Afghanistan and Iraq
we have started working towards Remembrance Day at the moment and already have over 100 pens donated
If anyone is interested in donating then please send me a message
how many pens and styles are entirely by choice of the Artisan but i suggest Slimline/Streamline pens .. they are nice cheap kits that will make more people happy ... and made from Aussie timbers for a taste of home
i look forward to hearing from any interested parties
Pickies are of the 308 Cartridge Pen production line i had for ANZAC Day

I always wondered what happened to pens for the troops, been nothing on here for a couple of years now. I’m glad to hear it’s still going on.

The last I heard was that Bruce seemed to be struggling to get donations of pens and I thought it had just fizzled out but obviously he has just moved to a new platform.

Hi MBUMIK
Just caught this thread and will send a number of pens to you in a few weeks.
Made using aussie woods ( quite a few blanks that I have sourced from Mapleman in the past ), finished with aussie UBeaut product and will be mainly be slimline/streamline.
I will PM you later for address details.

PS good to read Bruce is still going with it. Like others I thought the pens for troops had stopped. Glad it is still going.

Thank you everyone, Pens For The Troops is still alive, very much so since Mik and his team became involved.
It good to see so many old faces answering the call, as Mik said we hope to send in excess of 500 pens for Remembrance Day. I already have over 100 ready to send.
Many thanks to all

Thank you Euge the blanks look fantastic. I am sure the troops that get pens made from them will treasure them. Over the years I have meet many recipients personally and they have been over the moon. A much treasured reminder of their deployment.
Once again thank you all for getting involved.

Pleased to provide the basis for what I hope will make nice pens and I look forward to seeing what comes from these.
Some will be difficult because of the grain and hardness and require considerable skills. But they will be worth it.
