Chaplaincy pens
7 Streamlines pens made for each of the police chaplains in Queensland as a Christman present. 2 of the pens are Blackbutt. I am sure about the other timber but it is either cedar or maple. Someone might know.
The decals were printed on laser decal paper from decalpaper.com.au and sprayed with 3 coats of Septone acrylic top coat, left overnight to dry before being cut out and soaked in lukewarm water to remove the transparent print. The decals were placed on the turned blanks which had been coated with 3 coats of thin CA and again left overnight to dry. The blanks (decals) were then sprayed with 3 coats of Septone acrylic again and left to dry overnight. A light coat of CA was then placed over the decals followed by the usual 15 coats of CA and carnauba wax to polish.
After spraying with the acrylic top coat the decals became frosty. The first lightly applied coat of CA removed this milky film.
Thanks to gawdelpus (John), dai sensei (Neil) for their advice on applying and sealing the decals. Thanks also to David at Timberbits for helping me out at no charge with extra Cross clips that I had under ordered.

I think they will appreciate those pens a lot. The decals really top them off. Nice work !!
When I lived in Weipa, I used to know the Police Chaplain Quite well, I used to go fishing with him on a regular basis, unfortunately he has since passed on.
He was a very well liked and respected man, as I am sure the current line up of Chaplains are also.

Thanks everyone for your comments.
Just after having made the pens for the chaplains, Dad passed away last night. One of the police chaplains is going to conduct the funeral service for us. He is a lovely fellow and I will make him a couple of special pens.
